Pines City Colleges exhibited its students’ talents during the recently held Christmas Carol Competition and the theme was “Pasko: Si Hesus ang Dakilang Manunubos” .

Mr. Mark Recolizado and Ms. Marcita Lunag hosted the said event. Ms. Cana Laguador and Ms. Jussette Christi L. Datu sung “Ang Bayan Ko” for the invocation.Our Dear Dr. Abigail T. Bersamin, our Vice President for Academic Affairs delivered the welcome remarks.

This years contest piece was entitled “What child is this?”. It is a popular Christmas carol with lyrics written in 1865. At the age of twenty-nine (29), English writer William Chatterton Dix was struck with a sudden near-fatal illness, was confined to bed, during which he went into a deep depression. Yet out of his near-death experience, Dix wrote many hymns, including a poem entitled, “The Manger Throne,” from which three stanzas were later culled, set to the traditional English tune “Greensleeves,” and retitled as “What Child Is This?”.

PCC joined the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the observance National Disaster Consciousness Month. Hence, the Student Affairs in coordination with PCC Disaster Control Group conducted Essay Writing Competition last November 11, 2016 with the national theme: “Kahandaan sa Pagtugon sa Sakuna, Tungkulin ng Bawat Isa”

The result of the 2016 Division Schools Press Conference with the theme, Strengthening Freedom of Information through Campus Journalism” held on November 24-27. Out of 25 participating schools. Two of our students won in their respective categories, Ceny Lee Aglolo got the Seventh place in the Copy Reading and Headline Writing, And may I call on Desiery K. Antonio. Desiery Antonio got the First Place for the Science Feature Writing Contest beating 24 other participating schools. She will be competing in the Regionals on December 9, 2016 representing both Pines City Colleges and the Baguio City Division
